Do the imagination will become a true ?

A buried line in a new Facebook report about chatbots' conversations with one another offers a remarkable glimpse at the future of language.

In the report, researchers at the Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research lab describe using machine learning to train their "dialog agents" to negotiate. (And it turns out bots are actually quite good at dealmaking.) At one point, the researchers write, they had to tweak one of their models because else the bot-to-bot conversation "led to divergence from human language as the agents developed Their own language for negotiating. "They had to use what's called a fixed supervised model instead.

In other words, the model that allowed two bots to have a conversation and use machine learning to constantly iterate strategies for that conversation along the way-led to those bots communicating in their own non-human language. If this does not fill you with a sense of wonder and awe about the future of machines and humanity then, I do not know, go watch Blade Runner or something.

RELATED STORY

What an AI's Non-Human Language Actually Looks Like

The larger point of the report is that bots can be pretty decent negotiators-they even use strategies like feigning interest in something valueless, so that it can later appear to "compromise" by relating it. But the detail about language is, as one tech entrepreneur put it, a mind-boggling "sign of what's to come."

To be clear, Facebook's chatty bots are not evidence of the singularity's arrival. Not even close. But they do demonstrate how machines are redefining people's understanding of so many realms once believed to be exclusively human-like language.

Already, there's a good deal of guesswork involved in machine learning research, which often involves feeding a neural net a huge pile of data then examining the output to try to understand how the machine thinks. But the fact that machines will make up their own non-human ways of conversing is an astonishing reminder of just how little we know, even when people are the ones designing these systems.

"There remains much potential for future work," Facebook's researchers wrote in their paper, "particularly in exploring other reasoning strategies, and in improving the diversity of influences without diverging from human language."

KFC mobile in china !!!

The first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise opened in 1952, and it has grown into the second-largest restaurant chain by sales (second only to McDonalds). But America isn't the only place enjoying the Colonel's chicken - KFC arrived in China in 1987.

To celebrate 30 years of KFC in China, Huawei is making a KFC-branded smartphone.
It's called the "KFC Huawei 7 Plus," and is powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage. It also has a fingerprint sensor and a 3,020mAh battery.
Colonel Sanders is embossed on the back of the phone, so everyone knows you have good taste in chicken.

It also comes with a KFC-branded music app pre-installed, which allows users to create and share playlists at KFC restaurants. Huawei will only be manufacturing 5,000 of these phones, and they will be available for 1,099 yuan (about $162 USD) from July 13. It's the perfect companion for the Pepsi phone.

The all-new Lincoln Navigator takes the luxury SUV to a higher level

Lincoln has some positive history with the New York Auto Show. In 2015, Ford's luxury brand unveiled its Continental concept car, and then in 2016, it repeated the move with its Navigator concept.

The Continental is now Lincoln's flagship sedan, reviving a storied automotive nameplate. We checked it out and were impressed.
The Navigator is just as important — it was the first luxury SUV, hitting the streets in the 1990s.

It's large and in charge, and in 2016 Lincoln showed it as a spectacular yacht-like concept, complete with massive gull wing doors.
What was a concept is a reality. The gullwing doors are gone. But the big Lincoln is still a sight to behold. We saw it at an event right before the 2016 New York Auto Show kicked off.

Samsung and Qualcomm in talks over Snapdragon 845 for the Galaxy S9

Samsung is already looking towards the future - the Galaxy S9.
A report from Aju Business Daily states that Samsung Electronics and Qualcomm are in talks to develop the Snapdragon 845 chip that will power the 2018 S flagship.

While the Korean giant is preparing to start mass manufacturing of the next-generation 10nm chips, it is not a given that it will be the one making the 845 - TSMC is also in the running.
Samsung is building the current Snapdragon 835 chipset on its 1st gen 10nm process, but the new one promises a 15% power reduction or a 10% increase in performance.

TSMC is said to be building all of Apple’s A11 chipsets on its own 10nm process, the chips that will go into the next iPhone generation.
Even if Qualcomm does pick TSMC over Samsung’s fabs, they can keep busy by cranking out the next Exynos chipset for the Galaxy S9 and the Note after that. It is unclear how TSMC’s 10nm process compares to Samsung’s - Apple has first dibs on 10nm supply from the Taiwanese company.

IFA chief wants the Galaxy Note 8 unveiled in Berlin

Speaking at a press conference in Lisbon, IFA Executive Director Jens Heithecker said Berlin's yearly electronics trade show (held in September) would be a better place for Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Note 8.

He's signaling that he wants Samsung to return to the tradeshow after the company began announcing its high-profile Note phones earlier, in August, and switched locations to New York.

Between the first Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung held its announcements in Berlin, a day or two ahead of IFA.

Heithecker also said Samsung will have the biggest presentation at this year's tradeshow, although whether that's going to be the next Note or a bunch of new washing machines and smart TVs isn't clear right now.

Wherever it ends up announced, the Note 8 is shaping up as an oversized Galaxy S8 lookalike with the possibility of an under-glass fingerprint scanner and dual-camera setup. You can learn more about the successor to last year's most flammable phablet below.

10 REASONS TO GO TO DUBAI

world’s fastest growing city was nothing more than a pile of sand blowing in the wind until the late 1960’s. Today it’s a dazzling cosmopolitan centre and arguably the most advanced and luxurious city in the entire world.
With a crime rate of 0% (!) and its Lamborghini cop cars and no standard address system(how the heck do they manage?) you’ll wanna check out one of the world’s most interesting, if divisive cities.

Here are 10 reasons to go to Dubai.

1 – There are Camel Races with Robot Jockeys

Ok, so before you start applauding the United Arab Emirates for their technological advancement you should know that robots are only slowly replacing child jockeys and their massive history of systemic human rights abuses – still, camel riding robots? I’m in.

2 -The Skyline is Ridiculous

With clusters of super talls everywhere you’ll get a kink in your neck from all the looking up. Currently Dubai is home to 911 completed highrises – 88 standing taller than 180 metres and a world record 18 rising to 300 metres or more.

3 – The Shopping is Unparalleled

The city of Dubai is synonymous with spending. Whether you’re looking for gold and handicrafts at traditional souks or more upscale global shopping destinations you’ll find it here.
Start (and probably finish, shattered) at the Dubai Mall, the world’s biggest shopping centre by area. There’s over a 1000 stores spread out over 50 football fields or so.

4 – They Built an Island Shaped Like a Palm Tree

Part tourist attraction, part engineering marvel. Palm Island, the world’s biggest man-made island houses over 5000 residential units and a ton of top class hotels and resorts all connected by the (don’t laugh, Simpsons lovers) Middle East’s first monorail. Artificial archipelagolicious.

5 – It’s a Foodie’s Paradise

High class cuisine to suit every taste is the name of the game here. Over the years Dubai has transformed itself into the go-to destination for international chefs looking to open new restaurants from Gordon Ramsey to Silvena Rowe to Nobu Matsuhisa and beyond.

6 – It’s a Massive Mix of Cultures

With upwards of 80% of the population coming from abroad it’s hard to find a bigger mix of culture anywhere the world. Filipinos, Indians, Bangledeshis, Sri Lankans, and a sizeable Western European population all coexist using your favourite language as the default linga franca – English!

7 – The Burj Khalifa

This megatall skyscraper is the world’s tallest free standing structure at 829.9 metresspread out over 154 floors – do cameras have vertical panorama settings?

8 – There’s a 7 Star Hotel

The world’s most luxurious hotel cost $1 billion to build and probably won’t be in your price range (the Royal Suite goes for $24,000 a night) but just a walk through will be enough to inspire you to be better! Or give up entirely

9 – The Dubai Fountain is Bloody Amazing

The world’s largest choreographed fountain system is illuminated by over 6000 lights, shoots water up to 500 feet in the air, and has 22,000 gallons of water in use at any given time. No need to throw in any change – shows run several times a day. Free entertainment? Check.

10 – You Can Do Pretty Much Anything

It’s no surprise that the place of camel riding robots puts out a veritable buffet of tourist attractions – whether you’re looking to drive F1 cars, dive with sharks, get a 24 karat gold facial, or even ski and snowboard you’ll feel right at home

LIST OF AIRLINES OFFERING INFLIGHT WIFI

WFi is everywhere, from cafes to bus stops, trains to airports, it’s a service that people on the go value highly. Unfortunately the WiFi craze hasn’t reached its fullest potential yet.

Though frequent fliers have made their pleas to the airlines to offer onboard internet, when the service is available it isn’t always up to par with the tech-savvy traveler’s needs. Even though an increasing amount of airlines like Ryanair (to trial later this year on top business routes), Finnair, Srilankan Airlines, Kuwait Airways, TAAG Angola Airlines, and WestJet have announced that they’ll soon be implementing WiFi, there’s still a long way to go when it comes to the service, as exorbitant pricing and speeds that would make even a snail yawn are deterring fliers from considering purchasing internet aboard. At the moment only eight airlines offer free inflight WiFi: Emirates, JetBlue, Norwegian, Turkish Airlines, Air China, Philippine Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines and Nok Air.
